Description

The mechanics of the Gift Finder directs your users to a product or service that corresponds to them, according to criteria that they are invited to define. This module is ideal to qualify your users & know their preferences, to give visibility to your products & services, and finally, to generate traffic towards them by inciting them to buy.

Your players are invited to select several criteria, which you will have defined beforehand, from several drop-down lists, and then a product/service result is displayed to them according to these criteria. The customization of the result page will allow you to display the visual of the product/service, its name and a URL to redirect to its details on your site.

Summary

Design

Before setting up your campaign, you will need to have created the various graphic elements required. To begin, please consult this page which will give you access to all the essential information for the graphic creation of your campaign: Creating the graphics of your games. To create the specific elements of the Gift Finder module, please consult this article.

Page setup

First, click on New Campaign and select the Gift Finder mechanic. You will then be taken to the campaign editor which includes the 4 stages of this mechanic: Form, Gift Finder, a Result page and an End of campaign page. If you wish, you can add a home page and/or a teaser page.

Don't forget to set up your campaign settings now, including the campaign dates, terms and conditions and privacy policy.

Background images setup

Upload your Desktop background by clicking the "+" icon in Background Image. To learn about the background graphics specifications for this module, please refer to the "Game Design" section of this article. You also have the option of adding a solid background color that will surround your game pages - you can leave the basic color or choose to standardize your campaign with a color that reminds the user of your brand or game pages, for example.

Game settings

Number of participation (if "Limited participation" is enabled): Set the number of participation per day, week, month or campaign and per user, then create and select your Already Played page. If the user tries to replay, he will land directly on this page. Ideally, we recommend disabling the Limited Participation option to encourage the user to come back regularly to try new combinations of settings and find new products.

Fill out all fields before validation: enabling this field will force your users to consider and fill in each of the categories of criteria, in the form of drop-down lists, and obtain highly personalized results. On the contrary, not activating it could help the most undecided users to try broader settings, but will instead display results that are bound to be less targeted.

Module content

The "Content" tab is used to configure all the parameters and conditions for the allocation of the products that will be offered to the user on the Gift Finder. It is therefore an essential configuration of this module.

Import your products data

To get started, click on "Download Template" to get a CSV file that you can use to fill in your product data. This data will generate the display of the product corresponding to the user's selection criteria. Here is in detail what you can indicate in this file:

Overview of the product data import template file

If you encounter layout problems, you can follow the explanations given in this article.

Once you have filled in the file with the corresponding information, click "Upload" to import it into the Gift Finder and create the possible categories/choices.

Important :

  • You can create up to 5 categories on a Gift Finder page.

  • Each category can contain up to 100 different parameters/choices.

  • You can download a template file to help you in your first configurations by clicking on "Download model".

  • When you have already imported a data file and you click on "Download model", the previously imported file will be downloaded. You will then be able to make changes to it and re-import it.

  • Each data file must be in CSV format and encoded in UTF8, with a maximum size of 10MB.

Import and display your products visuals

Once the list of your choices/products has been created, it is now necessary to import the visuals corresponding to each product. To do this, click on the "Add images to elements" button and select all the necessary visuals. Their names must take up what has been defined in the "imagename" column.

Example: if "product_1" is in my "imagename" column, then the visual corresponding to this product will be named "product_1.jpeg".

All the imported visuals will then be placed on a viewing bar.

Important note: The visuals must be as light as possible in order to optimize loading times. We recommend a maximum of 4 MB per visual.

In order for the images corresponding to the selected product(s) to be visible on the result page, you must follow the steps below :

  • In the editor, go to the result page

  • Open the "Media" tab and select the dynamic visual

  • Click on the dynamic visual to open the visualization settings

  • In "Image associated to the page", choose the page of the Gift Finder

  • In "Image to be displayed", choose the image of product 1, 2 or 3: you can thus display up to 3 products defined according to the user's choices.

In order to encourage post-campaign buying, you can create a redirect button to your merchant site using the URL of your product:

  1. Create a new button via the dedicated tab

  2. In "Actions", choose "Open a new tab"

  3. Copy the URL of the product of your choice via the game variables (ex: to display the most suitable product (= the 1st choice), paste the URL %giftsFinder_article1_url%)

  4. Don't forget to enable the option to open the URL in a new tab.

Customizing the appearance

Background color of category: Allows you to define the color of the fields that will represent the different categories visible to users. You can also choose the font as well as the text style for these fields. You can then choose the size of the borders of your category fields, their color in the normal state, a specific color if the user forgot to select a choice in a category, and finally the rounding of the edges. If you don't want any edges, enter the value "0".

Display sequence icon: allows to underline the fact that several options exist for a given field, which in fact incites to click.

Display sequenced menu: allows you to view the global rendering of the selection fields for each category and to define the same customization options as the category fields: background color, font, text style, border size as well as their color and rounding.

Spacing of sequenced list: allows you to manage the distance between the category field and its list of choices.

Background / hovering text color: Allows you to customize the rendering of a selection field when hovering the pointer over it.

Mobile setup

Once your Desktop Campaign is set up, you need to switch to Mobile view to import the dedicated backgrounds and format your different pages for that support. To import mobile backgrounds, follow the same procedure as for desktop backgrounds.

Campaign launch and Test

Once the desktop and mobile versions have been finalized, you can publish the campaign. Don't forget to check your campaign. Use our emailing option to increase engagement on your marketing campaign.
