Description

The Puzzle mechanic offers an enjoyable gaming experience for both adults and children. Customize the game and invite your users to reassemble an image within a set time limit. Once the image is completed, you can reward your users by conducting a random draw among all participants. This mechanic is ideal for recruiting and retaining your participants.

Creating the graphics

Before configuring your campaign, you will need to create the necessary graphic elements. To begin, please consult this page which provides all the essential information for the graphic creation of your campaign: Creating graphics for your games. You will find all the downloadable elements for your Puzzle module in our dedicated article: Puzzle module graphic specifications.

If you wish to include game variables on your background, remember to leave space for them in the graphic design. Available variables include:

  • %current_strokes% : number of moves currently made in the Puzzle

  • %remaining_time% : time remaining in the game

  • %puzzle_score% : score of the last game

  • %puzzle_bestScore% : participant's best score in the game

  • %puzzle_duration% : duration of the game

  • %puzzle_strokes% : total number of moves made in the Puzzle

  • %puzzle_cumulated_score% : all the scores accumulated by a participant in one game (or multiple games in the same campaign) / Example: I play one Puzzle (200 points), then a second Puzzle (100 points) in the same campaign, this variable will display my cumulative score between my Puzzle 1 & 2, which is 300 points.

Set up the pages

First, click on New campaign and then select the Puzzle mechanic. The Puzzle template consists of 4 pages:

  1. A Form

  2. The Puzzle

  3. Results page

  4. An end of campaign page (end)

If you wish, you can add other pages and game mechanics. We recommend adding a home and teaser page. Configure your campaign settings by specifying the broadcast dates, importing the rules and privacy policy.

Customising the backgrounds

Upload your Desktop backgrounds by clicking on the "+" icon in Background Image. For the graphic specifications of the backgrounds for this module, please refer to the "Game Design" section of this article. You also have the option to add a solid background colour that will surround your game pages - you can keep the default colour or choose to standardise your campaign with a colour that reflects your brand or game pages, for example.

Configuring the game mechanic

The Puzzle mechanic comes in two modes:

Puzzle

Reassemble an image using the defined number of pieces

Sliding Puzzle

Reassemble an image using the defined number of pieces, but with one piece missing, making the game more challenging

Once you have chosen your game mode, set these common options for both modes:

  • Number of participations: define the number of participations per day, week, month, or campaign per user, then create and select your Already Played page. If the user tries to play again, they will land directly on this page. We recommend not activating the limited participation option so your participants can replay this game as many times as they want.

  • Number of pieces: you can choose between 4, 9, 16, or 25 pieces to reassemble. The larger the number, the higher the difficulty.

  • View the mixing animation: if you choose to leave the view of the mixing animation, the user will see the image pieces shuffle before they can start playing.

  • Enable the timer: activate the timer to set a maximum time for users to reassemble the image. We advise not setting too long a time to create a challenge.

  • Move limit: you can choose a move limit to create an additional difficulty. If you set 10 moves, this means the user can only move the pieces 10 times to reassemble the image.

  • Display the results page: Select "Display the results page" so users can see if they have won or not. To choose the type of result, consult this page. Adjust the number of won, lost, and already played pages accordingly.

Customising the appearance

  • Game background visual: upload the visual that will be integrated into the game area, which is the setting where the participant will move their pieces.

  • Background colour: each configuration of the Sliding Puzzle has an empty space that will be used to move your pieces. Here, you can choose the fill colour of this empty space.

Advanced options settings allow you to customise your loading bar.

Configuring the mobile version

Once your Desktop campaign is configured, switch to Mobile view to upload the background images and format your various pages for this platform.

Editing and previewing the module

By clicking on the game area in the editor, you can access the game preview and edit the game dimensions (to best integrate your game into a mobile application). Learn more

Testing and publishing the campaign

When the Desktop and Mobile versions are finalised, you can preview your campaign to test it. To know the essential things to check, consult this article. Once your tests are completed, you can publish your campaign on your custom domain and broadcast it to your audience.
