Description

The mechanics of Hidden Objects is to try to find all the hidden objects in the image. Once all the hidden objects have been found, you can for example, reward your users by drawing lots from all the participants. This game is fun and easy to play and is suitable for any user and allows you to showcase your company's products. This mechanism is ideal for recruiting and retaining your fans.

Summary:

Design

Before setting up your campaign, you must create the necessary graphic elements.

Please check this article that will explain all the essential information for the graphic creation of your campaign: Creating your games graphics.

To create the elements specific to the Hidden Objects module, please see this article: Hidden Objects module graphic specifications

Now it's time to set up your campaign!

Page setup

First of all, click on ' New Campaign' and select the Hidden Objects mechanism.

You will reach the campaign editor, where you will find the mechanism's 4 pages: Home (optional); Form; Hidden Objects ; and the Result Pages.

If you want, you can also add a teaser page and/or an end of campaign page.

Don't forget to set up your campaign settings now, by entering the campaign dates and importing the Rules and Privacy Policy.

Background images setup

Upload your desktop background images by clicking on the '+' icon under 'Background Image'.

To find out the graphics specifications for this module's background images, please check the 'Game design' section in this article.

You can also add a solid background color to surround your game pages - you can keep the default color or standardize your campaign with a color that reflects your brand or your game pages, for instance.

Game settings

Limited participation: You can leave this option disabled if you want your participants to be able to play your game indefinitely. If you activate it, set the number of games per day, week, month, campaign, or user; then create and select your 'Already Played' page. If users try to replay the game, they will be redirected to this page.

Enable zoom: by enabling this option, users will be able to zoom in to find hidden objects, making your game easier to play.

Buttons positions: If zoom is enabled, you will need to set the location of the zoom setting icons (+/-) on the game area.

Enable Chronometer: Enable this option to add difficulty to the player. This means that the player will have to make the best possible score before the time runs out.

Limited clicks: this option is ideal if you want to increase the difficulty of your game because it will limit the number of clicks the user has to make. The user will have to select exactly where they think the hidden objects are - if they exceed the limit, the game will stop and be considered lost.

Display result page: Select “Display result page” so that users can find out if they've won or not. Adjust the number of Won, Lost and Already Played pages.

Customizing the appearance

Background visual: Upload the visual that will be integrated into the game zone, which includes the background in which you will have hidden the objects to be found. These objects are not to be uploaded, they are an integral part of the game background visual. To understand how to define the clickable areas, please refer to the section "Editing settings" in this article.

Button "+" visual: if the zoom has been activated, you can upload the image of the "+" icon which will be used to enlarge a particular area of the image.

Button "-" visual: if the zoom has been activated, you can upload the image of the "-" icon that will be used to zoom out.

Success visual: upload the visual that will appear on the screen when an object is found by the participant.

Error visual: Upload the visual that will appear on the screen when the participant clicks on an area that does not contain a hidden object.

Enable slider: you can upload the pictures of the objects to be found which will be displayed on a line. This option will make the game experience easier for the user.

Display in a single line: upload the visuals of your hidden objects on a line that will be positioned under the game area. This line can be positioned in the edit menu. If this option is not activated, the visuals can be shown on many lines.

Example :

The advanced options settings allow you to configure your loading bar.

Editing and preview settings

⚠️ By clicking on the game area in the editor, you will be able to access the game preview as well as the edition of the game dimensions (to best integrate your game in a mobile application).

You will also find the option to edit the game engine: this will allow you to position the hidden object areas - if the user clicks in one of these areas, then the "success" icon will appear, indicating that an object has been found.

Mobile version setup

Once your desktop campaign has been set up, you must switch to Mobile view in order to import the dedicated background images and format your pages for this device.

To import Mobile background images, follow the same procedure as for Desktop backgrounds

Please note that the visual of the image containing the hidden objects will be uploaded in full on the mobile version, however the user will have to scroll down the sides to see the edges of the image. We advise you to specify this via an instruction page before the game page, or write it directly on your mobile game page by inserting text.

Campaign launch and test

Once the desktop and mobile versions have been finalized, you can publish the campaign.

Don't forget to check your campaign.

Examples of 'Hidden Objects' campaigns

Discover some examples of the scripting of the module below and in our "Inspiration" area.

Camif stages its furnishing products through the visual of its play area and asks its participants to find Easter eggs in this decor. The winners are then redirected to a scratch game to try to win gift cards.

For Easter, Lindt asks his participants to find their famous Golden Rabbit in a country setting. They are then drawn to win a year's supply of Lindt chocolates.

But highlights its kitchen elements through a Hidden Objects game where participants have to find pineapples. They will then be drawn at random to win one of the kitchens in demonstration.
