Description

The mechanics of the Slicer is inspired by the famous mobile game "Fruit ninja". Fully customizable, it allows you to discover your products through a truly addictive gameplay. Challenge your participants on this game of skill whose objective is to cut out the bonus visuals that appear on the screen before they disappear, while avoiding the malus visuals. This game is particularly recommended if you have a goal of engaging your audience.

Summary

Game Design

Before setting up your campaign, you must create the necessary graphic elements.

Please check this article that will explain all the essential information for the graphic creation of your campaign: Creating your games graphics.

To create specific Slicer elements, please read this article: Slicer module graphic specifications

Now it's time to set up your campaign!

Page setup

First of all, click on New Campaign then select the Slicer mechanism.

You will reach the campaign editor, where you will find the mechanism's 4 pages: Home (optional); Form; Slicer; and the Result page.

If you want, you can also add a teaser page and/or an end of campaign page.

Don't forget to set up your campaign settings now, by entering the campaign dates and importing the Rules and Privacy Policy.

Background image setup

Upload your desktop background images by clicking on the '+' icon under 'Background picture'.

To find out the graphics specifications for this module's background images, please check the 'Game design' section in this article.

You can also add a solid background color to surround your game pages - you can keep the default color or standardize your campaign with a color that reflects your brand or your game pages, for instance.

Game Settings

Limited participation/Number of participation: Set the number of games per day, week, month, campaign per user, then create and select your 'Already Played' page. If users try to replay the game, they will be redirected to this page. We recommend not activating the limited participation so that your participants can play the game as many times as they want.

Enable chronometer/Seconds: Enable this option to increase the game difficulty, and then set the desired time. This means that players will have to make the best possible score before the allotted time runs out.

Number of lives: Determine whether users will have 1 to 5 lives, or unlimited lives (this last option is available only if the chronometer has been enabled).

Important: a life is lost if an element is not cut in time and falls to the bottom of the game screen - however if an element to be avoided is cut, it means the end of the game immediately!

Display result page: Select “Display result page” so that users can find out if they've won or not. To choose the type of result, read this page. Adjust the number of Won, Lost and Already Played pages.

Customizing the appearance

Game background visual: upload the visual that will be integrated into the game zone, i.e. the background in which the participant will have to cut the objects.

Life visual: if the number of lives is limited, you must upload the visual representing them.

Multiplicator visual (optional): add the multiplicator visual, which is used to add +150 points per cut item. It appears only when in one slice, the participant manages to cut several elements at the same time. Thus, if in one slice the participant has cut 2 elements, this gives him +300 points (150 points x2).

Splash visual (optional): you can add a splash visual that will appear when cutting an element. This will customize the game experience a little more.

Bonus time visual (optional): You can add a visual for the "Time" bonus that will freeze the chronometer for a few seconds and slow down the elements in play, allowing you to collect more points in the game.

Cursor appearance (optional): you can customize the cursor visual to add to the scenario of your Slicer (ex: a "knife" cursor that will cut the ingredients of a recipe).

Elements to be cut: upload the visuals of the elements that the participant will have to cut. For information, a cut element gives 100 points to the user.

Elements to be avoided: upload the visuals of the elements to avoid - if the participant cuts one of them, it means the end of the current game.

Type of disappearance: you can choose between 4 different types of disappearance for your cut elements:

  • Explosion

  • Fade

  • Split in two

  • Zoom

HUD position: If activated, lives can be positioned at the top left or top right of the game screen.

You can customize your game module by choosing the color of the particles and the line that will be displayed when cutting (successful or unsuccessful).

Advanced options settings: allow you to configure your endgame text and the load bar.

Editing and preview settings

By clicking on the game area in the editor, you will be able to access the game preview as well as the edition of the game dimensions (to best integrate your game in a mobile application).

Mobile setup

Once your desktop Campaign is set up, you need to switch to the Mobile view to import the dedicated background images and format your pages for this device.

To import Mobile background images, follow the same procedure as for Desktop background images.

Campaign launch and test

Once the desktop and mobile versions have been finalized, you can publish the campaign.

Don't forget to check your campaign.

Examples of Slicer campaigns

Discover some examples of the scripting of the module below and in our "Inspiration" area:

On the occasion of the new school year, Flunch joins forces with Toucan Box for a slicer where participants are invited to cut out paper planes and notebooks while avoiding paint tubes. Players are then drawn at random to win subscriptions to the Toucan Box.
