Description

The mechanics of the Gate Code module (or "gatecode") allows to limit the access of the game to users with a code only, so it is an excellent post-purchase mechanism to increase your in-store traffic. Users are invited to enter the code provided on a receipt, on a POS, on your site... to access the game.

Module design

Before setting up your campaign, you must create the necessary graphic elements.

Please check this article that will explain all the essential information for the graphic creation of your campaign: Creating your games graphics. To create custom elements for the Gate Code module, please see this article: Gate Code module Graphics Specifications.

Page setup

First of all, please note that the Gate Code module is not directly accessible via the game mechanics. Indeed, it is a module that only allows access to a specific campaign or page, and must therefore be selected from an existing campaign in the editor. To do this, click on Add in the page installation bar (see video below) and then simply select the Gate Code mechanism.

Background image setup

Import your Desktop background by clicking on the "+" icon in Background image. To know the graphic specifications of the backgrounds for this module, please refer to the "Game Design" part of this article. You can also add a solid background color to surround your game page - you can leave the basic color or choose to standardize your campaign, with a color that recalls your brand or game pages for example.

Module settings

Code type: you can define whether the codes will be known in advance or generated from a Regex. For information, the Regex is a regular expression in the form of a string. It describes, according to a precise syntax, a set of possible character strings. This allows you to check the format of a data. For more information, click here.

Number of usable codes per user: define the number of usable codes per day, week, month or campaign and per user. Thus, if you define a code per operation, the user will be able to use this code throughout the duration of the campaign. He will not need to receive/find new codes to participate.

Enable limited use of the same code: by choosing this option, you can then select the number of possible uses of the same code per user per day, week, month or campaign and per user. If you choose to limit the code to only one time per campaign, the user will only be able to enter his code once during the entire operation. This option is therefore also linked to the number of usable codes per user in order to be able to globally define the access conditions for the following pages. Example: If you have defined that the user can use 1 code per day, and you have limited this code to 1 use per day, then the user will need to find a new code to be able to participate a second time. You can also not enable this option if you want the user to be able to reuse his code infinitely.

Allow code sharing: allows you to make the same code usable by multiple users. This will work with or without limited use of the same code.

Protected page: allows you to define the page to which the Gate Code page will lead only if the code has been validated. The protected page in question, for example an Instant Win, remains inaccessible to users otherwise.

Please note: If a user enters the wrong code, they will have to wait 4sec before entering a new one.

Already Played Page (only according to your possible limitation options): select the page on which the user will fall if he exceeds the limit set in your settings.

Import your codes

Go to the Content tab and click on the Upload button to import your codes. You have the possibility to delete and/or upload the imported codes.

If you have chosen to import codes, download the file template and complete it and then import it into the platform. The Gate Code module requires that you import a list of codes in a TXT file.

If you have chosen to define your codes by regex, enter the code format validation regex. For both cases, define the validation text that will appear if the code entered is not correct. Tip: the import file must not exceed 10MB, so it will be necessary to separate and import several files if the original one exceeds this size.

⚠️ Thanks to the way the platform operates, we can manage an upload of more than 20 million unique codes on the Gate Code module. However, depending on the number of codes uploaded to the campaign and the traffic generated on it, a significant number of codes can slow down the loading time.

We therefore recommend that you limit the number of codes to the traffic expected on your game. No need to enter too many codes in relation to the number of users expected on your campaign.... This will only reduce the performance of your campaign!

Mobile version setup

Once your desktop campaign has been set up, you must switch to Mobile view in order to import the dedicated background images and format your pages for this device. To import Mobile background images, follow the same procedure as for Desktop backgrounds.

Campaign publish and test

Once the desktop and mobile versions have been finalized, you can publish the campaign. Don't forget to check your campaign.
