What are UTMs?
Updated over 3 years ago

Google Analytics UTMs are used to track the users origin, and can be uploaded in the subscribers export file on Adictiz Box.

You will also find the results of the origins of traffic by source in the statistics page.

Please be aware that the data collected is relative to the users, not the visitors.

Why tracking links?

  • To measure the performance of digital communication media as a source of traffic (banner, newsletter, QR code, etc.)

  • To identify the origin of each user and trace it when you export the subscribers of your campaign Adictiz Box

  • To trace data from user sources by channels in Google Analytics

  • To optimize the overall performance of your campaign (UX, graphics optimization, media)

Note: the UTMs of the "parent" page are automatically integrated by the game page integrated in iframe.

How to create a tracked link?

Thanks to the Google Analytics UTMs, and its tool for creating tracked links:

3 UTMs must be filled in and added following your campaign URL as follows:

where X, Y and Z correspond to the following information:

  • utm_source = "source of the link" eg: newsletter, website, facebook, twitter

  • utm_medium = "campaign support" eg banner, email, qr-code, post

  • utm_campaign = "name of the campaign" eg game-summer, back-to-school-operation, promo-noel

Specific creation feature of the tracked link:

Please note that the UTM tags are placed on the smartlink of your campaign Example: https://adbx.io/nom-de-la-campagne/?utm_source=site&utm_medium=banniere&utm_campain=jeu-ete

To track a campaign published on Facebook or your website, you need to take the native url adbx.io with the mediakey broadcast, in bold opposite: https://adbx.io/jeu1/1b78eokl1w

Once tracked, it gives: https://adbx.io/jeu1/1b78eokl1w? utm_source = site-en & utm_medium = ban & utm_campaign = game-1

Warning: do not use the url directly from Facebook "https://www.facebook.com/ma-page/app/XXX". The UTMs will not go back into the export file of the subscribers.

If you have configured your own domain as a publication URL, you must use this URL.

Once your URL is tracked, we advise you to use a link reducer (e.g. https://bitly.com) to communicate this URL to your users.
