Description

Claw Crane is a typical amusement park game, made famous by the animated Pixar film 'Toy Story'. The user must control the claw from left to right before activating its descent, plunging it into a pile of potential rewards. The classical Claw Crane mechanism has been adapted here as an instant-win game, which means that users do not actually have to pick up the reward: if a reward is available the moment a user accesses the game, it will necessarily display a winning visual.

This is a particularly dynamic game, thanks to its colorful animations, and the displayed rewards encourage users to come back again, making it a mechanism that effectively boosts your engagement performance.

Summary

Game Design

Before setting up your campaign, you must create the necessary graphic elements.

To start, please visit this page, where you will find all the information you need to create the graphics for your campaign: Creating your games graphics.

You can download all the elements for your module (standard size) in this pack including a graphic manual + 1 PSD file with standard dimensions:

Now it's time to set up your campaign!

Page setup

First of all, click on ' New Campaign' and select the 'Claw Crane' mechanism.

You will reach the campaign editor, where you will find the mechanism's 6 steps : Home (optional); Form; Claw Crane; and the 'Won', 'Lost' and ' Already Played' Pages.

If you want, you can also add a teaser page and/or an end-of-operation page.

Don't forget to set up your campaign settings right away by entering the campaign dates and importing the corresponding Rules and Privacy Policy.

Background image setup

Upload your desktop background images by clicking on the '+' icon under ' Background Image'.

To find out the graphics specifications for this module's background images, please check the 'Game design' section in this article.

You can also add a solid background color to surround your game pages - you can keep the default color or standardize your campaign with a color that reflects your brand or your game pages.

Game Settings

Number of participation: Set the number of games per day, week, month, campaign, or user; then create and select your 'Already Played' page. If your users try to replay the game, they will be redirected to this page. Ideally, we recommend one game per day in order to encourage users to come back to your campaign on a regular basis.

Winners uniqueness: this option allows you to choose the number of rewards that can potentially be won by the same user on your campaign, via the winning moment(s) it contains. See our dedicated article for more information.

Result pages: Set your 'Won' and 'Lost' pages; one or the other will be displayed as soon as the claw crane will be activated, depending on whether a reward is being offered or not.

Customizing the appearance

You must import the various visual elements that create your Claw Crane game:

Background visual : Import the visual that will be placed in the background and upon which your different game elements will be added.

If you enable the option 'Display the reward visual if won', the image you have set for your various rewards will be displayed automatically and you will not need to customize a 'winning' visual here.

'Won' and 'Lost' visual : This is the visual element that will be revealed at the end of the Claw Crane activation, depending on the result.

Pile : Import the visual of the 'pile' of objects into which the claw will descend in order to 'grab' an item.

Opened/Closed hook:
If you want, you can illustrate the 'gripping' of the claw crane by uploading visual elements representing an 'open' and a 'closed' hook.
If you want to set up a visual element with an object that does not look like a claw crane (a corkscrew, for example), you can simply upload that visual element under the 'closed hook' and 'opened hook' options.

Rope type: You can choose from four types of ropes:

  • Chain

  • Line

  • Fabric

  • None

You can then select the color of the rope.

You can also customize the loading bar by clicking on 'Advanced Option'.

Editing and preview settings

By clicking on the game area in the editor, you will be able to access the game preview as well as the edition of the game dimensions (to best integrate your game in a mobile application).

Reward setup

The Claw Crane module requires a standard reward setup. If you haven't set up your campaign rewards yet, check this link: Adding rewards

Mobile version setup

Once your desktop campaign has been set up, you must switch to Mobile view in order to import the dedicated backgrounds and format your pages for this device.

To import Mobile background images, follow the same procedure as for Desktop backgrounds.

Campaign launch and test

Once the desktop and mobile versions have been finalized, you can publish the campaign.

Don't forget to check your campaign.
